Women contribute significantly to the growth of this sector (formally and informally). They represent a significant portion of the workforce in the forestry industry (from nursery work to wood processing), are leaders in many research processes, and have extensive knowledge in biodiversity and forest management.

However, this work has often been invisibilized. In some areas, their salaries and working conditions are lower than men’s. Also, gender inclusion policies have not been promoted in the forestry sector of many countries, increasing this gap. For this reason:

Let’s talk about women in the forest sector!

2022 is the opportunity to show the world the stories about women in the forest sector, and we want to share the challenges that forestry women need to face in their daily day and inspire others.
