Every year on October 24, people around the world unite to mark the International Day of Climate Action<\/strong>, a global call to protect the planet, raise awareness, and inspire meaningful change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At MujerForestal \u2013 100% Bosque<\/strong>, we want to highlight the power, resilience, and leadership of young women who are taking action in the fight against climate change. These five youth activists are shaping the present and inspiring the generations to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xiye Bastida Patrick \u2013 Mexico<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

Born on April 18, 2002, Xiye Bastida is a Mexican climate activist and proud member of the Indigenous Otomi community. She is one of the main organizers of Fridays for Future New York City and a strong advocate for Indigenous and immigrant visibility in the climate movement.
Xiye co-founded the Re-Earth Initiative, an international nonprofit that promotes inclusivity and intersectionality, \u201cjust as the climate movement should be.\u201d She has been recognized globally, including on Time Magazine\u2019s TIME100 Next list and with the Spirit of the UN Award.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Elizabeth Wanjiru Wathuti \u2013 Kenya<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Born on August 1, 1995, Elizabeth is a Kenyan environmental and climate activist and the founder of the Green Generation Initiative, which inspires young people to love and protect nature.
Her organization has already planted more than 30,000 trees in Kenya, fostering environmental awareness among children and communities. Elizabeth was named Africa Green Person of the Year (2019) and one of the 100 Most Influential Young Africans.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Leah Namugerwa \u2013 Uganda<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

Born in 2004, Leah Namugerwa is a passionate youth climate activist known for her tree planting campaigns and for initiating a petition to enforce Uganda\u2019s plastic bag ban. Inspired by Greta Thunberg, Leah began organizing Fridays for Future Uganda in 2019.
She has spoken at global forums such as the World Urban Forum (2020) and served as a youth delegate at COP25. Her leadership represents the growing climate movement in Africa led by young women.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Mikaela Loach \u2013 Jamaica \/ United Kingdom<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in the UK, Mikaela Loach is a British climate justice activist, author, and medical student.
She co-produces and hosts the Yikes Podcast, exploring climate change, human rights, and social justice. Her book, It\u2019s Not That Radical: Climate Action to Transform Our World<\/em> (2023), has inspired a new generation to take meaningful action. Mikaela was named one of Prospect Magazine\u2019s Top Thinkers in 2024, and in 2025, she released a book for young readers titled Climate is Just the Start.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jamie Margolin \u2013 Colombia \/ United States<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

Jamie Margolin, a Colombian-American climate justice activist, is the co-founder of Zero Hour, a youth-led climate organization within the Future Coalition network.
She is also the author of Youth to Power: Your Voice and How to Use It<\/em> (2020), a guide for young activists. Through her activism, writing, and scholarship program, Jamie continues to empower youth to take leadership in addressing the climate crisis.<\/p>\n<\/div>

A Call to Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

These young women remind us that climate action has no borders, no age, and no limits. Their courage and determination show that one voice (when guided by purpose) can spark global change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
